Electrical Wiring Diagrams Symbols

Once the schematic has been made, it is converted into a layout that can be fabricated onto a printed circuit board (PCB). Schematic-driven layout starts with the process of schematic capture. The result is what is known as a rats nest. The rats nest is a jumble of wires (lines) criss-crossing each other to their destination nodes. These wires are routed either manually or automatically by the use of electronics design automation (EDA) tools. The EDA tools arrange and rearrange the placement of components and find paths for tracks to connect various nodes. This results in the final layout artwork for the integrated circuit or printed circuit board.[9]

Transformer Two coils of wire linked by an iron core. Transformers are used to step up (increase) and step down (decrease) AC voltages. Energy is transferred between the coils by the magnetic field in the core, there is no electrical connection between the coils.

If the circuit is complex: Try to arrange the diagram so that signals flow from left to right: inputs and controls should be on the left, outputs on the right. You may omit the battery or power supply symbols, but you must include (and label) the supply lines at the top and bottom.

A circuit diagram is useful when testing a circuit and for understanding how it works. That is why instructions for projects usually include a circuit diagram as well as the stripboard or printed circuit board layout which you need to build the circuit.
